COFFEE AND COMMUNITY 2017

On Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December 2017, New Haven Farm Home partnered with Gloria Jeans Windsor Riverview to bring a fun, family friendly and social event to the Hawkesbury community.

In line with International Day of People with a Disability held in December, this event was a great success, helping New Haven Farm Home increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability, celebrating their achievements and contributions to our community.

Gloria Jeans Windsor Rierview not only supported New Haven Farm Home in partnering with us in this event and donating 50c from every regular or large coffee sold over th event weekend, but also practically demonstrate their support of our organisation and people with a disability by providing a weekly work experience opportunity for New Haven Farm Home client Shaun.

New Haven Farm Home supports clients, like Shaun, to achieve their personal goals through an individualised approach to support, skill development and community inclusion. It is important that each person is the centre of any decisions made about their life, with choices in the activities they participate in; the skills they would like to learn and develop, and the goals they would like to achieve.

Shaun enjoys hospitality and interacting with people. One of his goals was to find work experience in a local Hawkesbury café and this is where the team at Gloria Jeans Windsor Riverview stepped in, offering Shaun a weekly work experience placement. Shaun is very proud of his role at Gloria Jeans Windsor Riverview and always feels like a valued member of their team. Each Friday morning, Shaun can be found in the café helping to clear and clean tables, care for the dishwasher and keep the benches clean, while greeting and thanking customers.

This support from Gloria Jeans Windsor Riverview is helping Shaun build his skills in hospitality; his social skills and is giving him an increased sense of belonging as a valued and contributing member of our community.

Over 20 local businesses got behind behind this event to show their support with over 36 prizes valued at over $4,000 in total being donated towards our Mega Raffle to be drawn on the Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm. Rachael Goldsworthy Realty has has also generously donated an amazing Home Sellers Marketing Package valued at $4,995 which will be going under auction.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who came to the event, purchased a raffle ticket, coffee or made a donation as well as the many local businesses that got behind the event to donate prizes, products and services, over $3300 was raised during the weekend event. These funds will be used to help provide New Haven Farm Home clients even more opportunities to achieve their goals. Thank you so much!
